General Summary: The Reefer Technician is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on refrigerated trailer units. This position involves diagnosing equipment malfunctions, determining root causes, and completing repairs in accordance with original equipment manufacturer specifications, including welding and brazing of chassis and related components as required. The Reefer Technician communicates estimated repair timelines and out-of-service conditions to the Trailer Foreman and ensures all work is completed safely, professionally, and on time. This role is expected to consistently demonstrate and uphold the company’s five core values, known as the PRIDE Way.
Essential Job Functions:
- Independently diagnose, repair, and replace defective components, systems, and parts on refrigeration units.
- Perform all levels of preventive maintenance inspections and related repairs.
- Maintain a valid EPA 608 Type II certification.
- Effectively plan, organize, and prioritize work activities to meet operational demands.
- Accurately complete repair orders and document labor hours and parts usage.
- Communicate equipment status, including out-of-service conditions, to the supervisor or Trailer Foreman in a timely manner.
- Provide a high level of internal customer service and support.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance, which is an essential function of the position.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- Complete repairs on company equipment both on-site and off-site, as directed.
- Safely operate company-owned tools and equipment, including box trucks.
- Supply and maintain personal tools necessary to perform assigned job duties.
- Participate in the established after-hours on-call rotation.
Non-Essential Job Functions:
- Diagnose, repair, and replace components, systems, and parts on trailers as needed.

- Knowledge of heavy-duty equipment and transportation industry practices.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and establish appropriate work priorities.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong customer service orientation and effective communication skills.
